Vacancy reference: 154487

We invite applications for the position of Skoll Centre Postdoctoral Fellow (Leading for Impact) at the Saïd Business School.

The Leading for Impact Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for developing and executing empirical and conceptual research projects to identify strategies and practices by which individuals and organisations transform unjust or unsatisfactory systems through social innovation and social entrepreneurship. Dr Marya Besharov will serve as PI for the project and the work will be collaborative with her and others on the Skoll Centre team.

The postholder will be involved in activities that span the entire spectrum of the research process, including reviewing relevant literature to identify critical research questions, developing appropriate research designs, gathering and analysing data, developing new insights based on systematic analysis, and writing up and disseminating these insights to a variety of academic and non-academic audiences. A core focus of the work will be on producing insights that are both academically rigorous and practically relevant, and that are grounded in lived, learned and practiced expertise. Whilst a variety of research methods and analytic techniques may be used, the primary focus will be on in-depth, qualitative inductive analysis based on interview, observation and archival data collected from participating field sites.

The postholder will have opportunities to interact with and contribute to the wider community of researchers at Saïd Business School working on related topics. In addition, as a member of the Skoll Centre team, the postholder will engage with students and social impact practitioners and contribute to the design and delivery of curricular and co-curricular teaching and public engagement initiatives, including marquee convenings such as the Skoll World Forum.

The successful candidate will hold, or be close to completion of, a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience in a social sciences discipline and specialty expertise in organisation theory, leadership, and social impact as well as qualitative research methods.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate potential for a substantial publication record and familiarity with the relevant research literatures or show a willingness to acquire this expertise rapidly. The remit of the post also involves working closely with researchers and other colleagues at Oxford and engaging with the Skoll Centre agenda to educate and convene around social entrepreneurship, systems change, and impact.
