Strategic Projects Manager

Park End Street, Oxford

Grade 8: £42,149 – £50,296 per annum

Fixed Term (1 year) or Secondment

Saïd Business School is recruiting for a Strategic Projects Manager, reporting to the Director of Academic Services.

You will make a significant contribution to the School’s continuous improvement initiatives, quality assurance framework, enhancing the School’s global standing and be responsible for the operational planning and delivery of activity required to maintain the School’s institutional accreditations (currently AACSB, EQUIS, Athena SWAN, and its Divisional Review). This will include ensuring that processes are in place to ensure continued compliance with and where appropriate improvements to, those bodies’ quality standards. You will also coordinate the School’s global rankings submissions, working closely with Programme Directors and data owners. Where capacity allows, you will take on additional projects under the direction of the Director of Academic Services which, typically, will be expected to link to accreditation standards. You will need to develop and sustain excellent, broad-based working relationships within the School to ensure there is a sound shared understanding of the technical standards, and their implications for the School’s strategy, and that the accreditation processes themselves are delivered in a controlled, efficient manner. In addition you will develop strong networks within the accreditation bodies, and within other business schools, to gather salient information and best practice. You will have a keen awareness of organisational realities and bring an “external” critical perspective combined with a strong performance skillset.

To be considered for this role you will need to have a proven experience of managing and delivering external accreditation reviews and/or quality assurance processes in a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation, ideally in an academic environment and demonstrate that you able to deliver project objectives on time and in budget in a busy, demanding and dynamic environment. You must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to quickly develop and maintain effective relationships with confidence across the organisation including diplomacy and the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels and have the ability to absorb substantial detail; analyse, evaluate, interpret, and report complex information; as well write formal documents for senior academic and executive audiences. You will need to develop a strong understanding of the external context in which the School operates, the structure of the collegiate University and the division of responsibilities between its various bodies and be willing to work outside normal working hours on occasion and to travel, including overseas, on School business.
