The Teaching Support Assistant role provides administrative support to the Associate Professor Tutorial Fellows (APTFs) in the Department of Economics. The post holder will have responsibility for a broad range ofactivities and will act as a key point of contact between the APTFs, colleges and the Department, as well as working closely with colleagues within the Department’s support team. This role sits within an established academic office team, reporting into the Undergraduate Administrator with an informal reporting line to the MPhil Director.

The post encompasses several duties supporting the Department’s research and teaching activities. As part of these duties, the post-holder will lead the Department’s collaboration work, develop processes for teaching and administrative support to APTFs, oversee the administration of a centralised Collections (mock exams) process for APTFs, serve as course operations director for the Economics and Management UNIQ Summer School, and provide support for onboarding and orientation of new teaching faculty.

To be successful in this role you will have a flexible, can-do attitude to work effectively in a team, and be able to work independently and take initiative when necessary;be educated to at least A-level standard or have equivalent experience.

Experience of successfully implementing and managing administrative processes in a complex organisation, and of delivering excellent customer service is essential. Applicants should demonstrate experience of managing competing demands to meet deadlines, and have excellent communication skills to liaise/network across a large organisation/build relationships at all levels and facilitate the effective exchange of information. The ability to use standard computer programs (Microsoft Office) is essential.

It would be advantageous to have an understanding and experience of the higher education sector/experience of using current University systems, or the ability to organise events/manage their budgets, although this is not essential.

The post is a full-time, fixed-term until the 31st August 2024.
