We are seeking two highly motivated Virologist’s with a PhD and strong background in cell-based virology and anti-viral evaluation. We have established a group of immunologists and virologists who are developing therapeutics to emerging viral diseases including coronaviruses and filoviruses.

You will be responsible for managing your own academic research activities. This involves small scale project management to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work and meet deadlines. You will perform independent scientific research through collaborations with across the university. Contribute to the presentation of scientific results through journal articles, posters and oral presentations at national/international conferences. You will also provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group including PhD and project students. The post holder will also contribute to the wider virology group that has been established to understand cellular mechanisms of antiviral resistance and immune escape of mutated viruses.

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in Virology or related field and have post qualification experience. You will have experience of cell-based virology assays at least Cat II and preferable Cat III. You will have a strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field of virology. You will also have the ability to independently plan and manage projects.

These positions are offered full time on a fixed term contract until 31 December 2023 and 31 December 2024. Funding is provided by The Medical Research Council until 31 December 2023 and The Wellcome until 31 December 2024.
