Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Culture, Communication and Media (CCM) is a department of the Institute of Education. It is committed to excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the areas of: Media and Cultural Studies, Art, Design and Museology; Academic writing; English education: Applied Linguistics; Music Education; Multimodality studies; Learning with Digital Technologies.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate for the post of Lecturer (Teaching) in Film Production. You will be based in the UCL Knowledge Lab, a leading interdisciplinary research centre in digital research and design, whose mission it is to understand and to develop digital technologies to support and transform learning and other social practices.

This post is one of the first to be appointed to the new BA Media, a flagship programme for UCLs new campus at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. UCL East will incorporate 12 academic entities with a range of new research and teaching programmes.

Opening in 2022 and 2023, UCL East will unite academic activities across experiments, arts, society and technology, integrating research and education, theory and practice with cross-disciplinarity, innovation and public engagement. More than just a conventional campus, UCL East represents a future focused mindset. We will deliver new research, technology and innovation, and undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes for up to 4,000 students.

This post sits in the School for the Creative and Cultural Industries. The post will initially be based at UCLs Bloomsbury campus, or remotely during COVID-19. It will move to UCL East in 2023.

You will contribute to the delivery of the BA Media and contribute an important specialism to the range of expertise required by the programme. In addition, you will contribute to planning and delivery of workshops for schools and communities in East London as part of UCL Easts Widenning Participation programme.

Key Requirements

With a masters degree (or equivalent industry experience) in film production, you will also have sound knowledge in the technical delivery of film and audio-visual media.
