Duties and Responsibilities
The post-holder will be an experienced researcher and educator familiar with the active research domains within CASA and the methods we employ to solve urban problems. The main purpose of this post will be to support Masters-level students in their term three dissertation research projects.
This will involve guiding the student from inception through to the final delivery of their dissertation including working with them to set appropriate aims, objectives and research questions based on a thorough reading of the relevant literature; assisting them with identifying suitable data sources for analysis and helping navigate the UCL ethics procedures; working with them to identify appropriate analysis methodologies, interpretation of results and commenting, where appropriate, on written drafts. The post holder will also be involved in the first and second marking of dissertations submitted by students on all of our MSc and MRes programmes.
This position is to start 1st March 2021 and end 31 October 2021 with the possibility of an extension.
Key Requirements
Key requirements include Masters degree in a relevant discipline or an undergraduate degree and extensive relevant professional experience (a PhD is desirable), experience of managing and delivering extended projects at post-graduate level or in the commercial sector and a thorough understanding of the role of a dissertation supervisor at Masters level.
