Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will look after all equipment (both microscopes and specimen preparation equipment) in the facility. They will deliver expert technical advice and training in transmission and scanning electron microscopy to users of the facility, and, where required, they will assist with experimental design, specimen preparation, sectioning, staining, and data acquisition. They will be expected to be a point of contact for staff and students for advice regarding experimental procedures and techniques in both scanning, and transmission electron microscopy. They will also need to record usage to liaise with the divisional finance department to bill users for the use of the facility.
The successful candidate will have a BSc. in Biological or Physical Sciences and proven extensive knowledge of scanning and transmission electron microscopy techniques and methodologies, as well as research techniques and methodologies (particularly those employed in biological sciences).
Work is likely to be carried out remotely for the first few months, and the Faculty will endeavour to remain as flexible as possible about remote working thereafter.
