Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

In recent years the department has launched a number of innovative industry-led postgraduate programmes in diverse areas of documentary film making, broadcast, virtual reality and creative enterprise. Due to rapid growth, we are now looking for a part-time Immersive Technician and Demonstrator to support our Masters programme in Immersive Factual Storytelling.

This post sits within Public Anthropology as part of the School for the Cultural and Creative Industries and will be located at UCL East on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from 2023.

The post holder will provide professional technical expertise, support, guidance, advice and practical demonstration in the area of immersive technology for the delivery of technical activities. They will also support students and give guidance in the use of virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed/merged reality and motion capture environments, development tools, and related technologies.

Key Requirements

Applicants should have extensive knowledge of 3D Pipelines, platforms and development engines (i.e. Unity, Unreal and Godot) to assist with practitioners across different departments and also have experience with project management on 3D and XR projects i.e. Agile or Waterfall.

They will possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to work unsupervised, managing and prioritising competing workloads while meeting tight deadlines.
