Duties and Responsibilities

UCL Physics and Astronomy is among the top departments in the UK for this subject area: UCL is consistently placed in the global top 20 across a wide range of university rankings and is currently 8th in the QS World University Rankings 2020 and 4th in the UK for Physics and Astronomy.

The post-holder will undertake a range of teaching duties associated with delivery of our undergraduate degree programmes. These include module development, leadership and delivery across our curriculum, including lecture, laboratory, computing and project modules.

The post-holder will also engage with a range of other teaching and student-support activities, such as small-group and personal tutorials. We are looking for inspirational and dynamic individuals.

Candidates should be interested in teaching students with a range of backgrounds and adopting teaching strategies that will support their learning and enjoyment of their courses and programme of study. This is initially a 3 year funded appointment and is available to start immediately.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree in Physics or relevant related discipline and experience in teaching and delivering Physics & Astrophysics at undergraduate degree level. They will have experience in teaching in laboratory courses/practicals at undergraduate degree level, and comprehensive information and communication technologies skills.

They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to staff and students in a teaching and learning context. Enthusiasm to acquire new work-related skills and a commitment to keeping skills and knowledge up to date is also an essential requirement.
