Duties and Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed Portico Governance Team, which sits within the Academic Services Department of Student and Registry Services, and to work proactively to embed a culture of operational excellence in the use of Portico across UCL.

Reporting to the Head of Portico Governance and Research Student Management, the Portico Governance Manager will create a central repository of Portico (UCLs student information system) data management policies and procedures and a directory of Portico functionality. The postholder will act as a key contact with UCLs Information Services Division for Portico-related matters and will liaise with key stakeholders about opportunities for continuous improvement.

The role includes line management responsibility for a team of Portico Governance staff as well as oversight of the design and delivery of core training to a broad audience across UCL and the provision of support and guidance on data quality matters.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of the SITS student information system (or other equivalent system) from a user perspective and the data configuration of the system with regards to data quality and information management. They will also have significant experience of key student processes that underpin the Higher Education student lifecycle and of interrogating complex information systems for data quality purposes.

Applicants must have experience of organising and delivering training as well as initiating and managing improvements from scoping to implementation, ensuring good stakeholder engagement. The ability to use your initiative to proactively identify and resolve problems and provide advice is a key component of the role.

You will possess excellent IT skills and the ability to prioritise your own work and co-ordinate the actions of others to meet deadlines. In addition, you will be motivated by continuous change, seeking opportunities to improve processes and service delivery. Excellent interpersonal skills and a meticulous and organised approach to work are essential. Critically, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to audiences with varying levels of knowledge and experience.
