Duties and Responsibilities

The Development Planning Unit (DPU) is an international centre specialising in academic teaching, practical training, research and consultancy in the field of urban and regional development and planning. It is concerned with promoting sustainable forms of development, understanding rapid urbanisation and encouraging innovation in the policy, planning and management responses to the economic, social and environmental development of cities and regions, especially in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. It has an academic and teaching staff of 32 and offers postgraduate education through its research degree (MPhil/PhD) programme and seven MSc/Pg Diploma programmes to approximately 200 international students each year.

The Programme Assistant is a member of the administrative team, whose main role is to provide important support to the Programme Administrator. The programme assistant provides key operational support in the processing of enquiries, recruitment of students, and in the processing of applications to DPU postgraduate programmes of study and support to students while they are registered on programmes.

The appointment will be made as soon as possible and is on an open-ended contract.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English at a minimum of grade C. Also must have previous administration experience to a comparable level. It is essential to have an excellent communications skills (written and oral) and good interpersonal skills.
