Duties and Responsibilities
UCLs central Finance teams provide a comprehensive and wide-ranging business partnering service to eleven academic faculties, Professional Services departments and Vice-Provost (VP) Offices, as well as supporting major institutional projects that span the University. The Projects Finance Team provides financial and commercial support from inception to completion and beyond, from business case development through to monitoring project cost control and the delivery of post-investment benefits.
Reporting to the Head of Finance Change Projects, this role will support the development of financial analysis, evaluation and reporting of projects and programmes across UCL, with a particular focus on major transformation initiatives such as UCL East. UCL East is part of the Universitys strategy for Transforming UCL through investment of more than 1.3 billion to re-develop some of UCLs most iconic buildings. UCL East represents the largest ever single expansion of UCL since the University was founded nearly 200 years ago.
This role will focus on financial modelling and analysis, including preparation and updates of business cases, as well as ongoing project reporting.
The post holder will liaise regularly with project teams, including the UCL East programme team, Finance colleagues in the central, school, PS and Estates teams, as well as a broad range of stakeholders from across the university, including Estates and Information Services Divisions, Academic Deans, Faculty Managers, Department Heads and Managers.
We are seeking a qualified accountant with excellent interpersonal skills, ideally with experience of preparing financial modelling and analysis for complex major projects. An advanced knowledge of Excel and good all round knowledge of other Microsoft Office software is essential.
Previous experience of preparing financial models, good knowledge of accounting fundamentals, and excellent analytical skills are required. Proven aptitude for team working and excellent communication skills with financial and non-financial colleagues are essential. In a varied and busy environment, a calm and organised approach to managing work is vital. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a passion for work in higher education.
