Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) within the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology at UCL is at the forefront of resolving internationally important questions, primarily in infectious diseases, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. A key goal is to deliver swifter and more effective translation of scientific research into patient benefits and public health benefits. It does this by carrying out challenging and innovative studies, and developing and implementing methodological advances in study design, conduct and analysis.

An enthusiastic committed and professional individual is sought to provide timely administrative support to a wide range of trial and project teams within the MRC Clinical Trials Unit. The post-holder will support activities such as procurement, recruitment, arranging and minuting meetings, organising conference travel and supporting project planning for specific events and activities. The person appointed must have excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills and demonstrate a strong teamwork ethic. This role offers a strong training platform for those interested in working in a research environment and for those who wish to pursue wider careers.

The Role forms part of the Research supporting and Administration Functional Group. The post-holder works within a multi-disciplinary team and will be expected to provide administrative support across a wide range of activities as the need arises, developing their understanding of the research environment in which the post will operate as well as promoting a positive working environment and being a team player.

The role is available immediately.

This post is funded until March 2026 in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The successful applicant must be educated to A level or equivalent experience, ideally in an academic, research, education or healthcare setting. They will also have proven experience in providing an efficient and effective level of service to colleagues and a methodical and accurate approach to work, with attention to detail and a willingness to adapt and innovate.
