Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join PI Rachel Hillers team to work on the cross-sector implementation of NICE-recommended CBT-based interventions for young people in care: Framework development and pilot of trauma-focused CBTs study.

This is a national pilot project, funded by the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) network. The successful candidate will join a large collaborative research team spanning multiple Universities and Trusts. The project also includes a postdoctoral research associate based at UCL, and research assistants at other institutes.

The Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology undertake world-leading research and teaching in mind, behaviour, and language. It brings together researchers in a range of disciplines such as developmental psychology, clinical psychology, psychoanalysis, neuroscience, health, education, communication, medicine, behaviour and development. The Department is a vibrant environment for both study and research. UCL is the top-ranked university in the UK for research in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience.

The Research Assistant will primarily lead the service-mapping project, supported by the research team. They will also provide support for the running of the implementation trial. The role will include contacting and liaising with services (including CAMHS, specialist CAMHS, third-sector, and social care), extensive data management, and the preparation of a report for publication. Support for the implementation trial will include conducting assessments with young people and service providers, administrative support, and support of data management.

The candidate will be primarily based in London, although the role may involve some travel and overnight stays for meetings.

The successful candidate must be available to start in January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This is a full time post for 1 year in the first instance, but can also be a part-time post for a longer period at a minimum of 3 days/week (0.6FTE).

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will be highly organised and proactive, with ability to manage multiple competing demands of a complex study and keen attention to detail. They will have a first class or high 2:1 degree (BA/BSc) in psychology or relevant discipline, and relevant experience in a related area to this project. They will have demonstrated knowledge of subject matter to effectively contribute to the project.

The candidate will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, when communicating with different audiences (e.g., academics, services, young people) and excellent IT skills. They will demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines. A DBS check will be carried out before the successful candidate starts the role.
