Duties and Responsibilities

The Algorithm Standards Lab Algorithm aims to research and engineer methodologies for assessing, mitigating, and assuring an algorithms safety, legality, and ethics. The work of this lab will involve current research on AI and ML Fairness, Explainability, Robustness, Privacy, as well as matured topics of Data ethics, management and stewardship. The lab has a focus on facilitating knowledge-exchange between the key stakeholders of academia, civil service and industry.

The duties and responsibilities of the joining member will be to coordinate key contacts and outreach, manage communications, webinars, advertising, and social media accounts (ex. LinkedIn).

Funding is available for 12 months in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate should be keen to engage through outreach with industry and civil service, with an eye to how academic research and activities could be presented to these groups. Organisation of contacts and leads is essential, as well as planning ahead and programme curation. They should be able to promote the activities of the lab through such things as social media engagement and press releases. Prior experience in project management is useful, however enthusiasm is most valued. An interest in trustworthy/ethical AI, policy and regulation is preferable.
