Duties and Responsibilities
The Institute for Global Health at University College London is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow at 0.5FTE. The successful applicant(s) will join the CASCADE study team, funded by a number of pharmaceutical companies. The project aims to explore viral and host characteristics, understand the experience and needs, and measure clinical and patient-reported outcomes, among individuals in Europe with newly-acquired HIV.
Support the PI and Work Package Leader in development of data collection tools and securing in-country approvals;
Conduct data analyses of interview data alongside the Work Package Leader and research team, using NVIVO;
Communicate project progress and findings as they emerge, to international audiences through online videos, policy briefs, website, social media, etc.
Duration of the role is 3 years in the first instance.
As a Research Fellow, the postholder is required to have a PhD in medical sociology, medical anthropology, public health (with a substantial qualitative component), or a related disciplinary area. Experience working in HIV, setting up and conducting research within the NHS, and working with European partners would be advantageous.
They should have experience of conducting systematic qualitative literature reviews, facilitating focus group discussions, recruiting and interviewing participants, and analysis of qualitative data. Experience of conducting qualitative research using remote methods will be particularly welcome. They should be comfortable working independently, and have some experience managing research projects.
Please note: appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary 31,542 – 33,257 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
