Duties and Responsibilities
Applications are invited for the post of Research Fellow and ECOLANG Project Manager, based in the Language and Cognition Lab at UCL. The post is funded as part of Viglioccos ECOLANG project (funded by ERC) which investigates the role of multimodal cues (prosody, gesture, eyegaze, mouth movements) in processing language and learning new concepts/words in real-world settings by children and adults.
The position involves carrying out original research on multimodal language learning/processing as well as managing the ECOLANG project, including supervising data coding, analysis, and public release of the ECOLANG corpus (a naturalistic corpus of dyadic communication). The post-holder will be a member of the Language and Cognition Lab (www.language-cognition-lab.org). The job offers the opportunity to get hands-on experience of managing complex projects in a friendly, team-oriented environment.
The post is funded for 18 months in the first instance.
Candidates will have a PhD (or be in the process of completing their PhD) in Psychology, Neuroscience, Data or Computer Science or a related field. Experience of writing reports for publication and experience with open science practices is also required. They should have management skills as applied to students, data, and other aspects of daily running of large-projects.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary 31,542- 33,257 per annum inclusive of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
