Duties and Responsibilities

The Faculties of Arts & Humanities and Social & Historical Sciences at UCL are seeking applications for the role of Research Impact Manager.

The Research Impact Manager will embed the impact aspirations of UCLs strategies and the RCUK Impact agenda by supporting impact-related activities relating to research grants, as well as advising on and promoting other outward-facing research activities. They will design and deliver impact, external engagement, and knowledge exchange training and support to staff across the faculties.

The appointee will work closely with senior leaders in both faculties (Deans and their Deputies, Vice Deans, and Operations Directors) and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the Faculties Research and Impact Strategies post-REF. They will also regularly liaise with staff in other UCL Faculties and the Office of the Vice Provost Research (RIGE), especially the UCL Research Impact Curation and Support (RICS) team and the Innovation and Enterprise team.

This role is to cover the period until November 2022 while the substantive post holder undertakes a secondment elsewhere in UCL.

Key Requirements

The successful applicant will have a clear understanding of, and appreciation for, the organisational culture of a large research-intensive university (or similar research organisation), knowledge of the mechanisms of university research funding and in recording, interpreting and analysing data and knowledge and experience of working in this area. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of communicating with a range of stakeholders from academia and commerce is also crucial, as is experience of taking the lead on the development and local implementation of strategy.
