Duties and Responsibilities
The Early Detection of Neurodegenerative diseases initiative (EDoN) is an international, innovative project spearheaded by Alzheimers Research UK (ARUK), the UKs leading dementia research charity. It brings together global experts in data science, digital technology and neurodegeneration to develop a digital tool that will allow for the detection of dementia-causing diseases decades before overt clinical symptoms become apparent. EDoN is expected to run for at least 6 years, and its outputs will benefit the public, clinicians, researchers and the broader healthcare system.
The post is available for an immediate start and is is initially offered for three years.
The Trial Manager / Senior Clinical Research Fellow will be part of the EDoN Clinical Hub, led by Prof Zuzana Walker. This group plays a key role in identifying the cohorts and digital biomarkers relevant to the project and is responsible for engaging with established research cohorts to drive the application and validation of the EDoN digital tool through prospective data collection, as well as providing clinical advice and support to the project.
The post holder will undertake a range of duties in support of the Clinical Hub work. A key responsibility will be the coordination of trials of digital tools within clinical populations. The initial set of digital tools consists of commercially available wearable devices and smartphone applications. The trial management role will include coordination of pilot feasibility studies including an NHS based project, CODEC-2, and a pilot in the USA.
