Duties and Responsibilities
The Events team delivers a range of events for UCL staff, students, external stakeholders and the general public, in support of CAMs and UCLs strategic priorities. This include high-profile public events such as public lectures and festivals, as well as internal graduations, conferences and award ceremonies.
This post provides CAM with operational delivery of events for UCL staff, students and the public, including graduation ceremonies and open days.
The successful candidate will be responsible for making sure events are on brand, on budget and on time and ensuring an on-going process of improvement through measurement and analytics.
Leading on major event projects, the Senior Events Manager will be expected to construct a comprehensive events programme which meets team objectives and draw up ways of measuring the success and impact of events, and will make strategic decisions in response to requests for full event management services from other UCL departments.
Applicants should have extensive experience of creating, organising and managing a variety of successful in-person and virtual events, with experience of delivering graduation ceremonies, open days or other Higher Education events.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages (eg Word, Excel and PowerPoint), experience of using databases and web-based tools such as Eventbrite and MailChimp, along with experience in planning and managing budgets and the ability to operate within a tight budgetary framework are essential requirements of the role.
Experience of line managing a team with a good understanding of the issues involved, along with the ability to work closely with senior staff, using negotiating skills as necessary will also be an essential requirement.
