Duties and Responsibilities
As a Senior Technical Lead, you will report directly into the Team Manager, and play a critical role in technical product delivery alongside a business-aligned Product Owner. You will also provide mentorship to a small number of other Technical Leads/Developers to progress them on their development journey and encourage technical excellence and best practice. The Technical Lead community consists of a number of experts on UCLs technical landscape with proven abilities to lead technically minded individuals to deliver high quality enterprise solutions.
Working with one or more product teams you will oversee key work, take part in planning, forecasting demand and capacity requirements based on ISDs portfolio. You will also support the team as an escalation point and provide feedback and development to staff. You will work alongside Architecture teams, validating high level design from the Solution Architecture function and deciding on the most effective solutions to meet business and architectural requirements.
As an ambassador of change, you will have a continuous improvement ethos, and will seek to work with the wider university and suppliers to develop services to enable success from technology investments.
You will have extensive experience in delivering IT solutions across a range of technologies and disciplines within a large enterprise environment coupled with advanced knowledge of solution design including the design of multi-tier solutions, infrastructure builds, data structures, security, user interfaces and web services. You will be self-motivated and dynamic, quickly familiarising yourself with UCLs technical landscape and be able to provide the technical roadmap for product teams to constantly and consistently deliver business value.
During your Agile implementations you will be able to maintain the big picture for solutions across, data, technology, application and business layers while having the necessary technical skills to deep-dive and troubleshoot specific technical blockers.
