We are looking for an Assistant Admissions Administrator to join the Communications Team in the Postgraduate Admissions Office.

The Postgraduate Admissions Office supports the admission of students to doctoral and non-doctoral postgraduate courses at the University of Cambridge. The Office currently receives in excess of 25,000 applications annually from UK and international students.

The Communications Team are a relatively new team created to support applicants and internal stakeholders (departmental and school administrators, academics, etc) with the applications processes, and to improve overall communications around the postgraduate admissions process at University of Cambridge.

We have recently adopted the use of Zendesk to manage the volume of enquiries we receive each cycle (ca 33,000 yearly) and we’re excited to expand the use of the tool to include better support applicants, including support over web chat and answer bot replies to simple queries.

The responsibilities of this role are split equally between operations and providing customer support to applicants and internal stakeholders. There will also be opportunities to get involved in organising webinars, training sessions and attending wider open day events.

We are looking for someone with a good level of customer service skills and attention to detail.

During peak times (January, February and June, July), the post holder will assist with the offer making process as well as checking and processing documentation submitted as evidence to meet offer conditions.

We’re looking for someone with an interest in customer support and experience of providing a responsive and timely administrative service. Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written skills, organisational and IT skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work in a team are abilities that would make a candidate suitable for this role.

You should also be able to work independently, to tight deadlines, be willing to learn new skills and will be able to use your initiative and judgment. You must be able to prioritise and work well under pressure.
