We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Chief Accounts Clerk to join our Finance Team within the newly formed Cluster, within the School of Clinical Medicine.The Departments of Radiology, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Medical Genetics have clustered their Professional Services staff to form one integrated team with specialist groups in HR, Finance and Education. This team manage all administrative matters across the five departments. The departments are housed across six different locations, and the administrative team work between the different locations.

The successful candidate will be based in the Finance team in the Cluster and will work closely with the Finance Coordinator to ensure the smooth running of all the department’s finance administration. This will include organisation and completion of the accounts payable and receivable tasks that come to the finance team, financial management and reporting, and providing financial advice to budget holders. Other areas of key responsibility are payroll duties, maintaining the University financial system (CUFS) and processing supplier invoices.

The postholder is expected to act as a key contact for the Departments with University central finance and adapt department financial processes to ensure compliance with University financial regulations. They will provide advice and guidance to the Senior Accounts Clerks in the team with their queries regarding any of these sections and will assist with the implementation and training of any new internal financial procedures.

The successful candidate should have experience of working in an account’s environment, as well as in using standard Microsoft Office packages, particularly excel. Experience in organising own workload whilst monitoring the workload of others would be an advantage, however, is not essential. The postholder must be a good team player with high level organisational and communication skills. Experience of the University’s finance system (CUFS) is desirable. Applicants are required to be educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience.
