The Childcare Office supports the University’s Childcare Provision which includes four nurseries, holiday Playschemes and an information service.

We are looking for someone whose work will fall into two distinct areas.1. Supporting the University of Cambridge Holiday Playscheme which will include managing the bookings; updating information; assisting with the preparation of Playscheme materials
2. Supporting the Playscheme during school holidays by working on site to oversee the daily running of the Playscheme as a Site Co-ordinator

You should be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent and preferably to A Level standard, including English and Mathematics. A childcare qualification (or equivalent) to level 3 is highly desirable (a willingness to work towards a relevant qualification will be considered).Experience of working in a group childcare setting is essential. You must have good IT and administration skills (Microsoft Office, particularly Excel), be highly organised and have the ability to communicate easily with a wide range of people.

Full driving licence and use of a car during the school holidays is essential.

The 29 hours per week will be the basis for the monthly pay. There will be approx. 23 hours worked over 4 days a week in the office in school term time (40.25 weeks) and approx. 50 hours worked over 5 days during the school holiday periods (12 weeks, not including Christmas and Bank Holidays).

Annual leave entitlement will be calculated based on the days and weeks worked but cannot to be taken during the periods that the Playscheme is in operation.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children’s barred list) and a health assessment.
