The Accommodation Service is seeking a Customer Service Assistant for a fixed term of up to 12 months to provide front line, on-site assistance to tenants, contractors and customers of the Accommodation Service. The role supports delivery of all aspects of welcome, care, safety and maintenance matters in a timely manner. This is a responsible and proactive role, dedicated to maximising the customer experience and enabling the efficient operation of the department’s policies and procedures.
The role holder will assist in an efficient and timely manner when problems arise in University-owned properties, but also ensure that, by being vigilant and aware, such problems are prevented, where possible, from occurring. This requires the undertaking of small scale decorating and repairs, initial diagnosis of faults, dealing with emergencies, bin and litter control, and furniture removal. Also included is the preparation of homes ready for letting, explanation of heating and hot water controls and the undertaking of weekly safety (incl fire safety) audit checks.
The role is focussed on providing an understanding, empathetic and welcoming experience for University tenants, staff, students, visitors and others, and meeting and assuring the high standards of the Service are met.
The candidate will be educated to GCSE level, with a minimum English and Mathematics Grade C, and ideally will hold a further professional qualification (e.g. City & Guilds). Previous demonstrable experience in excellent customer care and service, office experience and the use of Microsoft Office, incl databases, are essential. The role holder will be required to demonstrate experience of practical maintenance skills and a sufficient understanding of maintenance issues in order to communicate effectively with contractors and service providers.
Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
