Cambridge University Library is looking for a Senior Software Developer.You will be the main Developer on the Darwin Succession Programme, to transform the fantastic outputs of two prestigious research projects (Darwin Correspondence Project and Epsilon) based on the Correspondence of Charles Darwin into core resources for the University of Cambridge for future teaching and learning.

You will also be part of the Software Innovation and Development team, and together be engaged with developing the next generation Digital Collection management platform. This is a unique opportunity to work on a historically important highly-regarded resources with advanced cloud-based (AWS) technologies for the future, preserving and ensuring access to precious digital assets, enhancing and developing new User Experiences to maximise the use and enjoyment of these collections.

The Development team has a DevOps culture, with strong learning/research mindset, using Agile Scrum day to day work, with modern technology stack. Ideally you will have experience of:

  • Cloud-native architecture and development
  • Agile development methodology
  • IT infrastructure, security, and current standards
  • Databases (structured and non-structured), data standards, and data formats, as well as transformation tools
  • Experience of working in Higher Education/Research-based projects would be highly desirable.
