Information and library staff at Cambridge Judge Business School maintain and promote a wide range of electronic resources in business and management incorporating e-journals, e-books, market research, news, and company data. The information resources, which are delivered through a website, are heavily used by the School’s MBA, MFin, PhD, MPhil, MST, MSt, MAcc, EMBA and DBA students, but also by teaching and support staff.
The role holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Information Centre, overseeing the work of three information assistants, co-ordinating the circulation system and maintaining the physical collections. They will work closely with the Head Librarian to achieve this and will deputise for them when necessary. As we are delivering a world-class library service in a changing environment, the ideal candidate will be adaptable and able to develop imaginative solutions to problems as they arise. Creative thinking, communication skills and a can-do attitude are welcomed, business knowledge or experience is desirable but not essential in this temporary role. A willingness to embrace unorthodox and experimental approaches to library service delivery would be a valuable attribute. Although this is a senior, professional role, a post-graduate qualification in Library or Information Science is not essential.
The ideal candidate will be educated to a higher degree level, and will have experience of electronic resources, experience of reference work, collection development and cataloguing. They will also have experience of presenting training sessions and have creative and practical approach to problem-solving. Excellent interpersonal skills and supervisory experience are prerequisite for this role.
Fixed term: This is a temporary cover for 1 year or the return of the postholder whichever is the earlier.
