Reporting to the Building Services Manager this role will form a crucial part of the maintenance team. The Department of Chemistry is a large Department and the team provides a full range of building services across the whole department.

Duties include: preparing and painting walls, ceilings and wood/metal work in office, laboratory, lecture theatre, teaching and general service areas, plus sourcing and ordering materials. The role holder also undertakes routine maintenance tasks such as water flushing and temperature checks, and provides general assistance to other staff in the team when required.

The successful candidate will be reliable, have a flexible attitude, the ability to make decisions and be able to plan and organise work unsupervised. They will also have attained City & Guilds: Painting and Decorating (6212), NVQ Level 2 in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting or have relevant experience. Basic IT skills are desirable.
