The Department of Computer Science and Technology is an academic department within the University ofCambridge that encompasses Computer Science, along with many aspects of Engineering, Technology andMathematics. Building on its long and distinguished history as the Computer Laboratory, the Departmentcontinues with world class teaching and research.

The department is recruiting for an IT Support Manager to work alongside academic staff to develop strategic technical plans and implement them in an ever-evolving digital environment. You will supervise and manage a team of IT staff and work closely with the Head of Department, Deputy Heads of Department, Departmental Secretary and IT Infrastructure Specialist. The IT Support Manager and IT Infrastructure Specialist are jointly responsible for the overall IT budget in the Department.

Your key duties will include front line support, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the Department’s Windows servers, ensuring the best possible capabilities for the department to continue its growth and deliver the best in Research and Teaching. Managing Windows AD and SQL database systems are an important part of this role and experience of Linux, Windows, Mac, Android and iOS is also required. You are quick to learn new skills, able to develop a thorough understanding of new technologies as they arise and keen to work alongside researchers to support unusual or specialist needs.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in an IT leadership capacity, working at a strategic level to implement positive change in a department or group supporting in excess of 100 people. Education to a degree or postgraduate level (or the equivalent substantial IT support experience) is essential. Strong communications skills and the ability to work with colleagues and students at all levels is a fundamental part of the role. For further information, please refer to the further particulars.

The post is full-time working 37 hours per week.
