The Department of Geography wishes to appoint an MPhil-Coordinator to support the delivery of two new, linked MPhil courses: Anthropocene Studies and Holocene Climates.
The role-holder will provide comprehensive administrative support for the two MPhil (Masters) courses, including the drafting and maintenance of course and recruitment materials, co-ordination of the teaching and assessment programme, and the provision of advice and guidance to staff, students and potential students. In consultation with the Postgraduate Administrator, they will manage the annual admissions procedure and maintain student records, using relevant University information systems and liaising with other University departments, central offices and colleges as appropriate. They will work closely with the academic Course Directors, the Deputy Directors, the Senior Examiners and the Postgraduate Administrator to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the courses and a positive experience for the students.
The role-holder will be part of a teaching administration team, together with the Graduate and Undergraduate Administrators, the Teaching Administrator and the Administrators of the MPhil in Conservation Leadership and MPhil in Polar Studies, working collaboratively in support of teaching and assessment across the Department, and may occasionally be called upon to assist in other areas of the Department’s course provision, as time allows.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 45 months in the first instance.
