The centre acts as a platform for research and engagement with social innovators, academia and policy in UK and across the world. Its primary focus is to understand, promote, and engage with social innovators.
We are looking for a new Programme Director to lead our engagement with social entrepreneurs through Cambridge Social Ventures.CSV supports a wide range of social entrepreneurs to start, grow and scale businesses that have positive social impacts. Over the last five years we have directly supported more than 800 social entrepreneurs from across the world- from fashion to farming, prosthetics to prisons. This practical support is rooted in the team’s deep experience in the social sector, starting and growing organisations that make a real world impact.
Reporting to the Co-director of the Centre for Social Innovation, the Programme Director will be responsible for the overall leadership of Cambridge Social Ventures; setting the strategic direction, managing the staff team, planning and overseeing its budget; developing, designing and running current and future programmes; fundraising; undertaking teaching and providing considered advice and practical support to its most ambitious social entrepreneurs in their search for social investment and business growth.
Ideally educated to doctorate level or equivalent, you will have senior level experience working within social enterprise or supporting social entrepreneurs. You will have knowledge and experience of key start-up social venture management challenges and ability to write and interrogate business plans. You will also have track record of business support and mentoring, and experience of investment-raising, ideally within the social investment arena. Organised, culturally adaptable, you will be confident in dealing sensitively with difficult situations. A first-class presenter, you will have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
