The Postdoc Academy (PdA) is looking to appoint a Project & Event Co-ordinator to support the successful running of the Postdocs to Innovators (p2i) programme, delivered by PdA in collaboration with a network of international University and business partners.
This is an exciting opportunity to join PdA’s small and dynamic team. Established in 2013 and originally known as the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, PdA is the lead organisation for postdoctoral matters in the University. It provides a range of support to postdocs including industry engagement, professional development as well as advocacy on national and HE policy and pastoral support. PdA offers postdocs a range of established programmes and activities, and continues to develop its provision in new and exciting ways.
Working closely with the Entrepreneurship & Industrial Engagement Project Manager, you will support the efficient running and administration of the p2i programme. The role is varied and busy ¿from operational planning and delivery of events; data gathering and creating programme updates to project financial administration – and involves liaising with p2i partners, PdA’s communications co-ordinator, project co-ordinators, finance and operations manager.
Key duties will include managing the application process of events, liaising with external speakers; arrange and support running the events (virtually or in-person) and gather feedback. You will also arrange and minute meetings for the p2i partners; booking travel and accommodation; processing approved expense claims; monitoring and updating financial records and preparing financial reports to the project manager. You will also support and contribute to the development of programme related documentation.
This role will suit someone who is proactive, enthusiastic, able to work equally well independently and as part of a tight team. The ideal candidate will be organised, have good problem solving skills, high levels of numeracy and a strong attention to detail. Applicants will have demonstrably excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken).
The funding for this post is available for 1 year in the first instance, on a part-time basis of the equivalent to two days per week. There may be an opportunity in the future to extend the contract. The working pattern will be discussed in more detail at the interview stage.
