The McDonald Institute and the Department of Archaeology are seeking a friendly reliable and efficient receptionist for a job share (all day Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday AM). The post holder will be based in the McDonald Institute but will also provide reception duties and serve as a first point of contact for the Department of Archaeology.
Reception duties include welcoming and directing a wide variety of callers to a complex site, answering the telephone, dealing with the mail and maintaining notice boards. Other duties include assisting with purchasing, event organisation and delivery, routine HR administration, maintaining office equipment (photocopiers and franking machine), assisting visiting speakers with setting up their presentations and many other duties appropriate to the grade of post and essential for the smooth running of both institutions.
Applicants should have excellent people and communication skills, knowledge of web-based administrative systems including online meeting platforms (Google Meet, Teams and Zoom are used in the Department) or a willingness to acquire them, and at least 5 GCSEs. Good spoken and written English is essential. Previous experience of reception work and knowledge of University administrative systems and procedures are highly desirable.
This role is part time, a job-share with an existing receptionist who works Wednesday PM-Friday. Applicants must be comfortable with a job share arrangement and be good communicators.
