We seek a life scientist to cover for a member of our team who will be away on maternity leave from early April 2022. You will join an experienced team with the laboratory of Professor David Ron at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research researching molecular mechanisms of protein folding homeostasis.

You will apply modern tools of recombinant DNA techniques (molecular cloning), cell biology and protein chemistry to research mechanisms cell use to cope with unfolded protein stress. In consultation with experienced members of the team you will design experiments involving the techniques noted above and learn to execute the procedures called for, developing further work with reasonable independence. You will be responsible for record keeping of your experimental results, with interpreting them and, in consultation with experienced members of the team, draw conclusions from your experiments.

Successful applicants will have a PhD in biochemistry or cell biology (Research Associate level). In exceptional circumstances we will be willing to consider applications for highly qualified persons at BSc or MSc level in a relevant subject (Research Assistant level).

With outstanding core facilities and home to more than twenty dynamic and highly interactive research groups, CIMR (https://www.cimr.cam.ac.uk) is part of the School of Clinical Medicine and is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, near Addenbrookes Hospital.

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier. As this position is for a maternity cover, you must be available to take up this role by late March 2022.
