A position exists for Research Associate/Research Assistant in solid-state quantum optics.

The aim of the role is to work on quantum optical control from single confined spins to an elementary network, where high-yield, high-fidelity entanglement is established through photonic interference. The research topics will include the realisation of efficient quantum relays and repeaters, and the generation of photonic cluster states.

The successful candidate will hold a good first degree and a PhD (or close to obtaining) in Physics or a closely related discipline. They will need to have a proven track record to be able to pursue scientific investigation from the conception stage through to publication and within solid-state quantum optics and quantum dot physics.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in coherent spin control, single-photon interference, intensity-correlation measurements and software-hardware interface as demonstrated by publications in major journals.

The candidate will also have a proven organisational, communication and team working skills.

The post holder will be located at the Department of Physics Cavendish Laboratory JJ Thomson Avenue Cambridge CB3 0HE, UK.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £27,116 to £31,406 Research Associate: £33,309 to £40,927.
