This role enables the University to sensitively and to appropriately conduct investigations into student misconduct, including serious sexual misconduct, and other student complaints, presenting this information to senior decision-makers within the University. The specialist knowledge and skills of the role-holder will enable the University to assure itself that investigations are conducted in a sensitive, professional and proportionate manner.

This role sits within the Office of Student Conduct, Complaints and Appeals (OSCCA) whose purpose is to review, communicate, advise on and handle cases relating to formal University student procedures including: student complaints; appeals relating to examination results and other University body decisions; student misconduct, and fitness to study. Case handling includes the administration and investigation of cases, as well as advising decision-makers to ensure consistent and compliant decisions are made.

The role holder will have proven experience of conducting sensitive and complex investigations, including investigations of alleged conduct that could constitute an alleged criminal offence and/or serious sexual misconduct. The role holder will be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of the complexities of sexual misconduct, including the impact on those who have experienced sexual misconduct and the impact of being accused of sexual misconduct. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, along with the ability to write detailed, accurate and succinct investigation reports reflecting an understanding of relevant legislation is essential.
