Applications are invited for the part time (0.6FTE) post of Tackling Air Pollution at School (TAPAS) Network Manager in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. This new role will provide direct support for Professor Paul Linden and the TAPAS Network. The overarching aim of the TAPAS Network is to bring together interdisciplinary expertise from across academia, industry, civil service and policy, to develop the research base to design and operate healthy schools in the environment of the future. The Network is one of six funded through the Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF) Clean Air Programme – more information available at https://tapasnetwork.co.uk.
The Network Manager will support the Network with the task of acting as intermediary between all parties. They will oversee and manage the development, delivery and evaluation of the project. Duties will include: developing and ensuring delivery of an action plan for implementation of TAPAS strategy, developing policies, managing ethics, culturing relationships with collaborators, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies, contributing to report writing, ensuring regulatory compliance and developing and monitoring KPIs, measurements of success and control measures.
The successful candidate should have research experience in a scientific and engineering discipline at Masters level or equivalent, relating to air quality, the built and urban environment or fluid dynamics. They should also have experience working in an administrative or project management role. They should have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the interpersonal and facilitation expertise required for interacting with the project team and wider stakeholders. The role holder will have excellent organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to work independently and flexibly. Experience of co-ordinating research/innovation projects or networks with a track record of delivery to time and budget is essential.
