
Teaching Associate
Department of Geography
The Department of Geography wishes to appoint a Teaching Associate in Quantitative Geography for a fixed period of 36 months from March 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Geography or a cognate subject and will work with other members of the teaching staff to play a significant/leading role in teaching Geographical Skills and Methods, which includes statistics and GIS, and quantitative methods, at undergraduate level. They will be expected to develop and teach computer-based and/or laboratory practicals, as well as develop teaching focused on data collection and primary research methods. They will also take a significant role in leading second year undergraduate residential fieldtrips. The Department welcomes applicants whose background is in either physical or human geography.
Teaching will comprise lectures, practical classes and fieldwork, and the formal assessment of quantitative and fieldwork skills and methods. In addition, teaching will include undergraduate dissertation supervision and support.
The role holder will examine at undergraduate level and will contribute, as appropriate, to the academic administration of the Department and the University.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 36 months in the first instance.
