Job description

The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) is a large and dynamic department in the Faculty of Science and Health. The School is internationally known for its research in a range of areas and offers an excellent education to its students. We are rapidly growing due to increasing student numbers and have an opening for a Lecturer in the area of Artificial Intelligence & Ethics.

Duties of the Role

You will deliver excellent research and education, generate research income, contribute to the administration and management of the School, and to the local, regional and international profile of the Department.

We wish to improve the School’s existing research as well as open up and develop new research activities that will become recognised as excellent and internationally leading. You will teach on our courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may include delivering existing modules, developing new modules and generally improving our research-led teaching. We aim for excellence in education as well as research and are looking for individuals who can contribute to both.

Qualifications and Skills required

You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline (Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Data Science) or be close to completion of studies, and ideally fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate.

You will have confirmed experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable ability to achieve this, and of designing and planning learning activities. You will be able to demonstrate evidence of a clear computer-science research agenda and publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes, engagement in high-quality research activity, and a developing research profile.
